Flawless Sony PS3? The firmware scandal

Consider this scenario. You bought a whole new Sony Playstation3 and you are ready to explore the awesome world of graphics. You switch it on and suddenly everything stops working! Imagine your plight? Now you don’t know whether its something you did or maybe it happened by itself.

Well if you come across such situation with the latest playstation3, stop feeling guilty and start filing complaint to Sony regarding the same. This is not something you did wrong, its actually the old wine in new bottle. Same old problem that xbox faced earlier about the bugs and fixes, now Sony PS3 goes through the same phase.

I know you don’t believe this and think its another rumor. How can a giant like Sony come out with a defective gadget? well its not a whole defective piece, its just the firmware that is giving problems. Firmware 2.40 was released and everybody was so happy to find additional functions like in-game XMB menu access and new addition to online games.

However this happiness did not stay for long when everything plunged into darkness. Many cases reported bricking problem, the malfunctioning of firmware 2.40. This is one of the reasons why Sony quickly removed this firmware from their website. Although not 100% of the users faced this problem, but the amount was considerable and surely pointed towards a serious problem with the firmware.

The good news is that Sony is soon to come out with a fix in their next firmware release, the 2.41 release. So all those who plan to buy PS3, hang on till this firmware is released and positive results are seen. And for all those freaks who don’t believe this review, they may take the risk of shelling out dollars and waiting for a chance to get disappointed. The choice is yours!
