Motorola Quantico – The new clamshell Mobile phone
The Motorola Quantico, the new clamshell from one of the leading mobile phone manufacturers in the world Motorola, is the another mega launch. The Motorola has just introduced this new model that sports a rugged look with the phone casing made of chrome, glass and rubber. It is strongly built to survive the extreme weather conditions to face the extreme temperature, shock, dust or the poor weather conditions.
The handset is made waterproof and can easily be submerged in 1 meter in water for a time span of 30 minutes without getting itself damaged. The phone is built to meet the military specification 810F. The dimensions of the phone are 2.2 x 3.7 x 1.0 inches and it is very light-weighted as it weighs 4.2 oz. (approx. 119 gms)
The rugged handset has got an exceptional internal display which measures 2.2-inch with good resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. It displays 65K colors. And the external display which is also called the mini display is of about 1.6-inch with a pixel resolution of 120 x 160. This particular clamshell supports two CDMA frequencies- one the CDMA 1700/2100MHz and the other 800/1900MHz CDMA EVDO.
The phone’s enhanced features include the Stereo Bluetooth (v2.0 and A2DP) with hands-free headsets and headphones, USB 2.0 connectivity, Music player. 2.5 headset jack, 1.3 megapixel fixed focus camera, MicroSD card support, the GPS technology that gives the handset turn-by-turn navigation functionality, and the battery is a 1140 mAh battery that can allow the user to use the phone for up to 5.8 hours on talktime mode and stretches up to 18.6 days (446 hours) on standby mode.
It also has a speakerphone that assists users to communicate in many settings. The audio player supports the AAC, AMR, MIDI, MP3, WAV and WMA files, where as the video player supports the streaming and H263, H264, MPEG4, WMV files. There is a strong message support in the Quantico as it supports SMS, MMS, T9 text function, e-mail, internet and instant messaging. The phonebook is extended as caller groups are supported with 1000-names capacity plus multiple numbers per contact can be stored with picture id alongwith with unique ringing tone.
The memory storage capacity is huge as the external memory is of 8GB and the internal memory is about 128MB. The storage types are MicroSD, MicroSDHC and the memory slots are available too. But for connectivity purpose, there is no infrared port or Wi-Fi (WLAN) access. The other applications include alarm, calender, calculator, stopwatch, world clock, notepad, etc.
The Motorola Quantico is priced at $99.95 after a two-year customer agreement and mail-in rebate, available from U.S. Cellular.
