Samsung Strive SGH-A687 (AT&T)

Samsung Strive SGH-A687 (AT&T) released recently, is one such handset which possesses all the features that are required in the mid range mobile phones along with the pretty reasonable performance which it shows off. Relatively priced at $19.99 for a 2-year contract and at $169.99 without any contract, this handset is a better messaging product from the company and follows the AT&T’s new cloud-based services.

The overall design of the handset is attractively done keeping in mind the comfortableness and the user-friendliness options. Available in purple or black and having dimensions 4.17×2.15×0.58 inches (length, width, depth) and weight 3.99 ounces, this device is a chunky slider phone.

The display measuring 2.6 inches is bright and vibrant, supporting 262k colors with 320×240 pixels. The navigation controls are also well designed with a 4-way toggle and a central key, 2 soft keys, etc. The full-fledged QWERTY keyword is an added advantage and the keys are pretty comfortable to work with.

Strive has got some extra ordinary features like the 1000-contacts phone book, and AT&T address book feature, apart from the regular phone features like the SMS, MMS, instant messaging, alarm clock, calendar, calculator, notepad, etc and of course the Bluetooth, USB mass storage, PC syncing and voice recorder for the ultra tech geeks.

The phone’s 2 megapixel camera offers four resolutions for the images, but the picture quality cannot be termed as the extraordinary type as the colors in the images look bit muted. The image is shot in one pixel resolution of 176×144. Strive’s streaming video quality is above average as the videos can be easily loaded. The battery life is not that appreciable as it runs for 3 hours of talktime and 19.41 days of standby time.

A good part of the phone is its support to various integrated applications of AT&T, for example AT&T Navigator, AT&T Social Net, AT&T Mobile Music, AT&T Video Share and many more. Overall, the Samsung Strive is a phone you can go for if you really want to have a messaging phone with additional features in your pocket.
