Samsung has also come up with an incredible eco-friendly phone which has a solar panel installed on its back which will generate power when exposed to the sun. Unlike any other eco-friendly phone this is quite small and comfortable to use. Samsung’s Blue Earth is not only small but its body is made from recycle water bottles without the use of brominated flame retardants, beryllium and phthalates. Coral-200 which is a solar-powered handset comes with a very important feature which is loved by one and all is its price, which is $40. This phone uses Dutch technology where it will help those who do not have access to regular power. Anyways, one hour of sunlight exposure gives you 15 minutes of talk time which is way too less when compared with the previous models, but it definitely catches up with them with its extraordinary price. The company targets an audience of 2 million people who do not have access to the energy network and for this they attained a partnership with Digicel, a network provider that does business in developing countries and provides solar-powered charges.

5. Natural Year Phone: Biodegradable Grass Handset

This device looks like a brick of grass with a keypad on it. But the Natural Year Phone concept developed by Je-Hyun Kim focuses on the lifecycle of mobile phones. This phone will function for two years and then degrades into pieces of grass so that it can be recycled later. This sounds a bit weird, but that’s the specialty of this phone. The best part about this phone it that the phone automatically biodegrades immediately after its two years of life cycle ends. Once it degrades the pieces can be recycled to create a new phone.

Sony Ericsson has come up with two incredible phones, the Naite and the C901 cybershot phone. Both the devices all the green features like reduced packaging, energy saving chargers and 100% recycled headsets. Additionally, you can recycle the phone as soon as you want another device. The paper manual is also included in the handset, which reduces the use of paper and hence reducing the carbon footprint of the device by 15%.
